SAVING LIVES: Provision of healthy water to rural communities

The Pediatorkorpe Health Centre, located in one of the island villages on the Volta River, provides critical health services to over 22 communities in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra Region, Ghana.

Shockingly, this facility, which provides general medical care, midwifery, reproductive health services and pediatric care, has no electricity or access to clean water to treat its patients.

Easy Water for Everyone, a nonprofit whose mission is to bring pure and safe drinking water to every person who lives in a rural community with no access to electricity, stepped in to help. It donated the NUF500 filtration system, which removes completely bacterial and viral contamination from dirty water.

The results were stunning.

Gifty Adeyiga, the midwife in charge of the facility, said that since the installation of the filtration system, there has been a drastic reduction in water-related diseases, such as cholera, diarrhea, dysentery, Hepatitis A, and typhoid.

“It’s been a game-changer,” she said. “We no longer have to worry about how to hygienically clean babies and the mothers.”

Help us save lives. Every dollar of your contribution to Easy Water for Everyone will go directly to providing safe drinking water in more communities in Ghana, Uganda, and Senegal.
