Schoolchildren give filtration system passing grades Waterborne illnesses plunge with use of filtration system

The only source of water for Richlove Apedo’s school is the heavily polluted Volta River in Ghana. A 10-year-old student at Pediatorkorpe Basic School in the Ada East District of the Greater Accra region, she and her classmates have to walk for a half hour to collect the contaminated water used for drinking and hand washing.

“Sometimes, fetching water from the river is very dangerous because of wild animals,” said Richlove. “Some of my friends also fell sick regularly because of the contaminated water.”

Then help arrived.

Easy Water for Everyone, a nonprofit whose mission is to bring pure and safe drinking water to every person who lives in a rural community with no access to electricity, donated to the village the NUF500 filtration system, which removes bacterial and viral contamination from dirty water.

Today, Richlove and the 150 students at her school have access to safe, clean drinking water. “God bless Easy Water for Everyone for coming to our aid,” she said.

By donating to Easy Water for Everyone, you can support the #Gallons of Hope campaign to help students, like Richlove, safely transport water to classrooms. Every dollar of your contribution goes directly to providing safe drinking water to communities in sub-Saharan Africa.
